Rick has been a successful attorney since graduating from law school in 1988. Founding Nell & Associates, S.C. on April 16, 2001, Rick focuses his legal practice on Corporate Health Care including regulatory and compliance issues, General Corporate and Business Law, Real Estate and Employment Related legal issues.
Rick received his B.B.A. from Minot State University while serving in the United States Air Force for 6 years. It was always his goal to continue his education and pursue a J.D. degree. Before he had the opportunity to attend law school however, he worked as an Operations Manager with Green Giant Co. while being in the Army Reserve. From there, the combination of his experience from Green Giant and knowledge from growing up a ‘farm boy’ led him to Milwaukee Insurance where he served as the Director of Farm Lines, and was one of the youngest farm directors in the country.
It was in 1985 when the pieces fell into place and Rick was able to pursue his long-term goal and attend law school. He immediately enrolled at Nebraska Law School, and later transferred to Marquette University, graduating in 1988. After graduation Rick joined the law offices of Stellpflug, Janssen, Nell, Hammer, Kirschling & Bartels, S.C. as a partner and practicing attorney. It was here that Rick started focusing his practice on Corporate Issues, Real Estate and Business Law.
Rick is dedicated staying up to date with his knowledge and education of the legal industry so he can best serve his clients and therefore continues to be involved in numerous legal associations. He is a member of the Brown County Bar Association, American Bar Association, State Bar of Wisconsin, State Bar of Wisconsin Business Law Committee, State Bar of Wisconsin General Practice Committee, American Health Lawyers Association, American Bar Associate Health Law Committee, State Bar Health Law Committees and the American Health Lawyers Association Physician’s Substantive Law Committee.
In order to give back to the community, Rick has stayed involved in different organizations throughout the Green Bay and De Pere area. He has previously served two terms as President and one as Vice President of the De Pere Area Business Association and continues to be on the Board of Directors. Rick’s leadership roles have been in organizations such as President of Celebrate De Pere, Inc., De Pere Kiwanis Club, and Green Bay Junior Gamblers AAA Hockey Club as well as the De Pere Main Street Program, Ashwaubenon Ice Management, Inc., St. Norbert President’s Council and Kiwanis International. Rick’s substantial community involvement has resulted in his being named the Wisconsin Mainstreet Program State Volunteer of the Year for 2000 and the firm receiving the Main Street’s President Award in 2001 and 2002, along with numerous other local volunteer recognitions.
